Can Atalay: "The government is doing the greatest evil to our Hatay"

Turkish Workers' Party (TİP) Hatay Deputy Can Atalay , who is being held in Marmara Prison in Silivri despite the Constitutional Court (AYM) decisions, made a statement regarding the forest fire in Hatay.

Atalay said, "The government is doing the greatest harm to our Hatay. In earthquakes and fires, it is always neglected, always accepted as the other..."

Can Atalay's statement was published on his social media account.

Atalay noted the following in his statement:

"We are living these hellish days where difficult times have become habits, where we are tested with even worse evil, where those who consider evil as a skill are in power. The government is doing the greatest evil to our Hatay. In earthquakes and fires, it is always neglect, always being considered the other... Our troubles are not considered as troubles.

More than two years have passed, and people in Hatay still cannot access their right to housing. Earthquake housing has either never been started or is not being completed. Despite the time that has passed since the debris removal, infrastructure is still missing, and even access to water is still a struggle. Our agricultural lands have been destroyed, and producers have had to abandon their land. Unemployment is increasing every day, and new employment opportunities are not being created. Our cultural heritage and multicultural life are being ignored.

As if that were not enough, in fires, floods and new disasters, we are the first to be discarded and left alone. Hatay and Hatay residents who know how to share limited resources and stand side by side will never surrender to this evil. This spirit of solidarity and resistance rising from Hatay will be an example for the entire country. Together, we will not give up our struggle to bring democracy, freedom and brotherhood to this country.

We will heal together, we will rebuild together. We will rise from the ashes. I embrace all friends and send my strongest feelings of solidarity to each and every one of you."
